Spring Baseball Tryouts Saturday Jan. 12th

*** Please read this letter in its entirety as it will outline the next month of activities at Bayshore Little League ***

Thank you to all of our Spring 2019 participants.  We are pleased to have near a record number of participants with strong numbers across all divisions in both baseball and softball.  Below is information about the upcoming Player Evaluations (tryouts), team selections, opening day ceremonies.

The player composition of Little league divisions is determined by both skill level and then by a player’s “League Age” as determined by Little League.  Use the following links to determine what “league age” your baseball or softball player may be:

Mandatory Tryouts / Player Evaluations - Baseball and Softball: Saturday, January 12th, 2019

All players league age 7-12 must participate in Player Evaluations (tryouts) this weekend to be eligible to play at Bayshore this spring.  League age 6s that want to play-up in Minor C must also tryout.  The evaluation will be a factor in determining the appropriate Baseball division for your ball-player.

Baseball Divisions:

Intermediate 50/70:  All League age 13 year old’s.  Bayshore expects to field 1 team

Majors / Little League division: Teams are comprised of all League Age 12s and selected 11s (10s only by special evaluation and exception by committee)

Minor A (full game kid pitch):  Teams comprised of all non-Major’s 11s, selected 10s & 9s (8s only by special evaluation and exception by committee)

Minor B (Kid pitch w/ support from coach pitching):

Teams are comprised of all remaining 10s & 9s, selected 8s (7s only by special evaluation and exception by committee)

Minor C (Standing coach pitching from 42 ft.):

Teams will be made up of all remaining 8s, 7s & 6s by exception

Co-ed Farm (coach pitch from knee w/ tee): Teams are made up of remaining League age 6s & select 5s

Co-ed Tee Ball: All Tee Ball. Teams of 4s & all remaining 5s & some first time 6s by request

The only baseball players exempt from tryouts are 13U players, returning Majors Boys League Age 12 that were on a Majors team as 11s in Spring of 2018 as they will remain on the same team for Spring 2019.  Additionally, league age 4, 5 & 6 year old players slated for the Farm & Tee Divisions are exempt from tryouts.   Baseball league age 6 year olds are encouraged to tryout if they would like to be considered for the Minor C, coach pitch division.  Otherwise, they will be allocated to the Farm division, which is played on a tee ball field with coach pitch from a knee.  1st season League age 4 & 5 will be allocated to Tee-ball division and 2nd season players will be eligible for the Farm division.

“Playing up a division”:  if your baseball player has exceptionally advanced skills and wants to play in a division higher than where he would normally play for his age, he will need to tryout twice.  Once with the older age group and then again with his actual age group.  For example, a league age 10 year old wanting to play in the Majors division (typically comprised of 11s & 12s) would need to tryout with the 11 year olds AND the 10 year olds.  A league age 7 wanting to play Minor B, must tryout with 7 year olds and also with the 9 year olds.  No exceptions.

Please show up at least 15 minutes early to check in, get your player’s evaluation number, and warm up.  You must check in at the field you will be trying out.  The fields and times are listed below.   For anyone unable to attend Saturday, makeup tryouts for all ages will be held on Tuesday, January 15th beginning at 6:00pm.  Specific times will be announced on Monday.
