FAQ's


Players

 Q1.      When does registration start?
  • Spring season online registration opens on December 1st every year. You will find a link for online registration on the BSLL home page.
  • Winter season online registration opens every year by August 1st.
 Q2.What is the best way to register my child to play at BSLL?
  •  Online registration is the best way. It is quick and easy and ensures that we get accurate data in a timely manner.
 Q3.How much does it cost to play?
  • Baseball Minor C & up $230 per player
  • Baseball Pee Wee Farm and Tee Ball $230
  • Softball Minor C & up $230
  • Softball Pee Wee Tee Ball $230
  • Max per family $500
  • $50 late fee applies after cutoff date
 Q4.Do they get a uniform?
  •  Yes, every player receives a shirt and a hat from their coach after the season starts. The team coach will decide the color pants that you will need to purchase.
 Q5.What is the season start and end date?
  •  Spring starts in the middle of February and goes through middle to late May.
  • Winter starts middles of September and ends before Thanksgiving.
 Q6.What is the schedule?
  •  No schedule is available until after the season starts. The coaches pick their practice day and time after the player draft or allocation. There is no way to know the schedule until after the teams have been selected.
 Q7.How many practices and games will there be?
  •  Typically each team will practice once a week and have one game per week. Practice is usually during the week after 5pm. Tball & Farm generally practice for 1 hour and their games are usually on Saturday mornings or afternoon. There have been games scheduled in these divisions on Friday evenings. Minors and Majors practices are 1.5 to 2 hours per week. Some coaches schedule more than one practice each week in these divisions.
  • Games are usually in the evenings after 5pm or Saturday morning or afternoon.
 Q8.What level should my child play in?

Generally the divisions are divided by age. Skill is also a factor in determining a player’s division. A player may be placed in a higher or lower division if there is a safety risk.

Baseball:

  • T-ball: 4 and 5 year olds
  • Farm: 6 year olds
  • Minor C: 7, 8, & 9 year olds
  • Minor B: 8, 9, & 10 year olds
  • Minor A: 9, 10, & 11 year olds
  • Majors: 11 & 12 year olds
  • 50/70: 13 year olds 

Softball:

  • Minor C: 6 & 7 year olds
  • Minor B: 8 & 9 year olds
  • Minor A: 10 & 11 year olds
  • Majors: 11 & 12 year olds
  • Juniors: 13 & 14 year olds
 Q9.Are there tryouts?
  •  There are only tryouts in the Spring season for players league age 7 and older.
    There are NO tryouts for Winter ball. Players are assigned to teams via an allocation that is held by the coaches.
 Q10.Does everyone make the team?
  •  Yes, every player will be assigned to a team. Their individual skill level and age will determine the division in which they play.
 Q11.What equipment do I need?
  •  Every player will need a glove. It is also recommended that players have their own bats and helmets. If you are buying your own bats please ensure that the bats are aproved by little league, click here for more info.
 Q12.Who do I talk to at BSLL if I have a problem after the season starts?
  •  The first step in communication should be with your child’s coach. The next level of communication is the Player Agent for your child’s division. You can find the Player Agent’s contact information under the Board Member section of the BSLL website.
 Q13.Are scholarships available?
  •  Yes, BSLL does not want to include any child from playing due to a financial hardship. You can contact the Registrar to discuss a scholarship need.
 Q14.     What if we move?
  • First ensure that your new address is within the BSLL Boundry map. If so no problem.
  • However if your planning on moving outside the BSLL boundries, you may still be eligible to obtain a waiver from the LIttle League to allow your child to continue to play at BSLL.

Coaches

 Q1.How many coaches are there per team?
  •  In most cases there is 1 team manager and 1 team coach.
 Q2.How can I become a coach?
  •  Complete the required Little League Volunteer Application located on the BSLL website in the Registration section. This form must be returned with a copy of your driver’s license to the BSLL Safety Officer. You can find the contact information for the Safety Officer on the BSLL website under the Board Members section.
 Q3.Will I receive training?
  •  Yes, every season BSLL hosts a Coaches Clinic at their fields.
 Q4.How does the draft work?
  • Spring season: Tryouts are held for each age group. Each manager and coach evaluates every player. A draft is coordinated by each division’s Commissioner and Player Agent where each team is selected by the manager and coach.
  • Winter season: because there are no tryouts in Winter ball a player allocation will be conducted with each division and their respective managers and coaches. The division Commissioners coordinate the player allocation.
 Q5 Who do I talk to about coaching?
  •  Notify the Commissioner for the division in which your child plays and that you want to coach. You must also complete the required Little League Volunteer Application located on the BSLL website in the Registration section and submit to the league’s Safety Officer as described above.
