IMPORTANT UPDATE - COVID19 & Bayshore Operations - April 30th

Dear Bayshore Families,

We hope this letter finds you well and you are all safe and healthy. When we last communicated on April 20th, it was indicated that all Bayshore Little League activity would be on hold until further notice. Since then, there have been several developments that we wanted to communicate to our community.

There have been reports that the spread of COVID19 appears to have slowed and the governor recently shared Phase I of a staged reopening plan for the State of Florida.

This afternoon, Little League International has made the difficult and disappointing decision to cancel its seven World Series tournaments and their respective regional qualifying events. This is truly heartbreaking decision for our young players who have dreamt of competing in these tournaments.

Unfortunately, we are not at a point where we could restart the league activities, but remain hopeful that we can return this season. Until then, our facilities remain closed including both our Davis Islands and Hyde Park fields.

Several major factors will determine a potential restart date including guidance set forth by federal, state and local government Health Officials, the City of Tampa, Florida District 6, and Little League International. These possible playing opportunities could include not only regular season activities, but opportunities for local district, and, perhaps, state all-star tournament play to provide players, especially those moving up to a new age division in 2021, a tournament experience, if possible and safe.

As we await future announcements, we wanted to reach out to let you know we are going to be very purposeful as we approach a potential reopening of Bayshore Little League. As a Board of Directors, we have begun preparing for a potential return to play as well as evaluating how an abbreviated schedule may play out. It is our hope that we will have some clarity on the COVID19 situation soon in order to finalize a plan to move forward with baseball and softball operations.

We would highly encourage all of your players to continue preparing for a potential return as we look forward to seeing everyone at the ballpark as soon as it is safe to return.

Please look for additional updates as we receive relevant information.

Please stay safe, and continue to care for your families, friends and support our community.

Respectfully,
The Bayshore Little League Board of Directors
